Kent Andersson No.1, World Championship of Sweden Grand Prix for Motorcycles 1971, Scandinavian Raceway, Anderstorp, Sweden. The year after the first International MC race in 1970 at Scandinavian Raceway, a World Championship race was awarded in 1971 which would then render a total of 19 World Championships for MC/Roadracing at this track. In the 50cc class, Angel Nieto Spain won on a Derbi bike, Barry Sheene Great Britain on a Kreidler took the checkered flag as 4th rider, best Swede Lars "Kinna" Persson on a Monark with an 8th place. In the 250 class, Rodney Gould England won on a Yamaha, The two Finnish riders Jarno Saarinen was 3rd closely followed by Teuvo Länsivuori 4th, Best Swede Börje Jansson came in 9th place. In the 350cc class, Giacomo Agostini was at the top of the podium with Jarno Saarinen in 3rd, Kurt Ivan Carlsson slipped into 5th place as the best Swede before Länsivuori was 6th. In the 500cc premier class, Giacomo Agostini from Italy on an MV Agusta was once again at the top of the podium, Ulf-Åke Nilsson on a Seeley ended up just outside the podium in 4th place, mint condition. |
