What Is It That We Actually Do?
That is perhaps not such a strange question, and the answer is not quite as simple as one might think. Nevertheless, we will do our best to provide as complete and detailed an explanation as possible.
In short, we market and sell collectible model cars and miniature racing helmets from a carefully selected group of manufacturers, each of whom is a specialist within its field. However, there is much more to it than that. Questions such as what determines value, and why we do not sell model cars from every possible manufacturer and brand, deserve a more thorough explanation. Ultimately, it is about understanding the product’s utility, emotional significance, perceived value, and perhaps most importantly, what it actually costs to create.
We exclusively market and sell high-quality, premium collectible models, often handcrafted in one way or another and almost always produced in numbered or otherwise limited editions. We are talking about manufacturers such as Amalgam Collection, BBR Models, CMC Models, Spark Models, TSM Model, Tecnomodel, Bell Helmets, Schuberth, and Stilo. All of these premium manufacturers work closely with the original helmet manufacturers, automotive brands, or racing teams to ensure that every model is as accurate and authentic as possible.
When it comes to larger scales such as 1:12, 1:8, and 1:5, the level of detail is truly extraordinary. These models are almost entirely handcrafted and produced in strictly limited quantities. The largest 1:5 scale models even feature hand-formed aluminum bodywork, just like their full-size counterparts.
Few people truly understand how much work goes into every individual model. Every detail must be reproduced accurately and to scale. Formula One cars are perhaps the most demanding examples, as they may feature different front wings, aerodynamic profiles, sidepods, and sponsor liveries from one race to another. This means that model manufacturers often cannot simply reuse existing components from previous versions of the same car.
When discussing price and value, it is important to understand that handcrafted collectible models produced in small numbers are naturally far more expensive to manufacture than mass-produced models from brands such as Bburago, Corgi, Majorette, or Matchbox. There is nothing unusual about that. However, those products are primarily toys. While they certainly serve an emotional purpose for enthusiasts who admire a particular car, they rarely possess significant collectible value. The market is currently flooded with an ever-growing number of inexpensive, mass-produced toy cars, which inevitably affects both quality and long-term value.
Collectible models, on the other hand, reflect their considerably higher production costs in their retail price. Yet the selling price does not necessarily reflect only intrinsic value. It may also reflect the anticipation and demand that exist within the collector
market, as most collectible models are produced based on pre-orders. Once a model is sold out, its value often increases according to market demand. We have seen numerous examples of models increasing tenfold in value within a relatively short period of time, while others naturally experience more modest appreciation. As always, it comes down to supply and demand.
However, collecting is not solely about financial value. Equally important are the intangible qualities: the admiration, appreciation, and passion for the craftsmanship, artistry, and historical significance represented by these collectible pieces.
We are seeing more and more collectible models being given as graduation gifts, birthday presents, retirement gifts, and perhaps most notably as christening gifts. This may not be as unusual as it sounds. Such a model has many years to appreciate in value and can become a highly appreciated gift that may eventually provide an excellent return—provided, of course, that it is not used as a toy.
It should also be remembered that the majority of collectible models from Formula One, Le Mans, and other forms of motorsport are closely linked to the drivers who raced the original vehicles. Sweden has produced some truly remarkable racing legends. Swedish motorsport would not be what it is today without icons such as Jo Bonnier, Ronnie Peterson, and Reine Wisell, as well as more modern stars including Stefan “Lill-Lövis” Johansson, Richard Rydell, and, of course, Felix Rosenqvist.
These drivers are represented by some of the most sought-after collectible models on the market, alongside classic Le Mans cars and the numerous variants driven by Formula One’s most celebrated champions. Miniature racing helmets are even more directly connected to many of the world's most famous racing drivers.
Many collectible models ultimately find their place on a pedestal, in a display cabinet, at the center of a bookshelf, or on a table where they naturally become a focal point and a conversation piece among enthusiasts. Perhaps this is where their true utility lies: as works of art and design that attract attention and admiration. The larger models, in particular, achieve exactly that.
The same philosophy applies to 1:2 scale miniature racing helmets. These are produced by the very same manufacturers who create the original helmets, using identical designs, colors, and quality standards. Whether we are talking about model cars or racing helmets, the collectible pieces we offer are faithful reproductions of the originals, produced to the highest possible standards and in limited quantities.
