Gunnar Nilsson who was stablemate with Mario was noted for the seventh fastest lap and Ronnie Peterson in an Elf Tyrrell in tenth place. Conny Andersson in a Stanley-BRM P207 unfortunately did not qualify for the race. Frenchman Jaques Laffite won from the eighth starting grid with his Ligier JS7-Matra. Germany's Jochen Mass in the Mclaren M26 took second place and Carlos Reutemann's Argentina Ferrari 312 T2 came in third. Neither Ronnie nor Gunnar had any luck this day. Ronnie broke already after seven laps and Gunnar submitted after 64 laps.
